Playstation 2 component incites African war

It is apparent that a rare metal needed to build the Playstation 2, has become the center of attention in a recent conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Perhaps this is the new ‘blood diamond’?
The unrefined metallic ore is called, coltan. After processing, coltan then turns to a powder known as tantalum, which is widely used in the production of electronic devices such as cell phones, computers, and of course gaming consoles such as PS2.
Rwandan military groups and western mining companies have invested hundreds of million of dollars into the refining of this metal, and as a result, children have been forced to work in the mines, and the addtion of ‘prisoners-of-war’ to the industry.
But why does this focus fall on Sony and the PS2? It started with the consumer demand back in 2000, when Sony had trouble producing enough of the consoles to meet the consumer needs. They eventually needed an increase in the production of electric capacitors, which led to the “frenzied scouring of the Congolese hills known for being ripe with coltan.”
“Sony has since sworn off using tantalum acquired from the Congo, claiming that current builds of the PS2, PSP and PS3 consoles are sourced from a variety of mines in several different countries.”

Some dirtbag spammer titled “Spam King”, or Edward “Eddie” Davidson, who had been previously convicted, escaped from prison with the aide of his wife, then apparently killed her, their 3 year old daughter, then himself Thursday.
The bodies were found in an SUV in a farmhouse driveway after gunshots were heard and called in to police. A teenage girl was also shot in the neck, but survived. After being shot she ran to a neighbors house for help, and has since been hospitalized.

John McCain says that as president he would consider bringing Osama bin Laden to justice through a Nuremberg-like international trial. “The Nuremberg Trials are certainly an example of the kind of tribunal that we could move forward with,” the Republican presidential candidate told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer.
McCain said it would be a “good thing to reveal to the world the enormity of this guy’s crimes, and his intentions, which are still there.”

Turning water into wine…err fuel

Philip Thompson, 40, of Lancashire has spent 6 months creating a hydrogen fuel generator that can turn water into a ‘petrol-boosting substance’. Thompson was inspired because of the costly amount of fuel to develop a better answer, after reading about this technology online.
“It takes tap water and splits it into its component parts of hydrogen and oxygen which, when mixed together, makes hydroxy gas. That’s fed through to the engine and it enriches the burning process, giving you more miles per gallon. The secret to success in producing the hydroxy gas is in how much power you consume. Many people are doing this, companies all over the UK and people all round the world. They are doing exactly the same thing, but they are using a lot of power to do it.”
All while using the same amount of energy as a 60 watt lightbulb, this generator can produce up to 100 litres of gas an hour. Thompson has built 3 prototypes thus far.

17 players were ejected from a minor league baseball game between Dayton And Peoria. One fan was injured and taken to the hospital when a pitcher threw a ball over the opposing dugout and struck the fan. The pitcher faces felony charges.

4Chan: DDoS Attacks

The anonymous imageboard, 4Chan, is back down again like your mom on her knees. After approximately 4 days of DDoS (distributed denial of service) attacks, the site still struggles to remain up for more than a few hours at a time like your PENIS.
Apparently it all started when a bunch of AnonTalks users started spamming 4Chan. Then some members of e/b/aums went after AnonTalk with a DDoS attack. AnonTalk retaliated with DDoS attacks of their own, eventually taking down 4Chan, many other ‘chans’ and even Encyclopedia Dramatica. AnonTalk is also down.

On a sidenote, some underage b& who calls himself ‘pacifico‘, is trying to claim responsibility for finding the exploit used in the attack. *Apparently the following IRC logs, all point to the underage b& ‘pacifico’ being responsible. Considering IRC logs can be changed in a matter of seconds, I wouldn’t trust it 100% though. He could be some cancer crying out for attention with his jewfro and dirtstache…or not. If it’s true, I’d expect v& for this scriptkiddie and more involved, unless moot is a pussy and hasn’t called the feebs yet.
